Dermaplaning is an exciting new exfoliation method used to remove the very top layer of dead, dry skin cells. It also removes all of the fine, vellus hair – aka “peach fuzz” – on the face. We use a small tool to gently scrape away the upper layer of hair and dead, dull skin. “Peach fuzz “ and dead skin cells can trap debris and oils and can give skin a dull look. The result of a dermaplaning treatment is much brighter, smoother skin which allows your makeup to be applied more evenly. An added benefit is the fact since the built up layer of dead skin cells have been removed, your skincare products will penetrate more deeply into the skin. This increased penetration of skincare products is why dermaplaning is a great treatment to be paired with a light acid peel. The addition of a light peel after a dermaplaning treatment is an advanced treatment that results in a beautiful, even skin tone and a brighter complexion.
Dermaplaning and Microdermabrasion are both exfoliation treatments. Dermaplaning may be more suitable for someone who is who prone to redness, broken capillaries or has more sensitive skin because it is not abrasive in any way. In addition, dermaplaning removes the vellus hair on the face, which Microdermabrasion does not do. Both are great treatments and a skin care provider can decide which would be more suitable for you.
Dermplaning is recommended every 4 weeks, but can be done in as little as every 2 weeks. It can be performed alone or added to a facial. Dermaplaning is also a wonderful treatment when paired with a peel or laser service. Best of all, dermaplaning is painless. In fact, it’s actually quite relaxing! Call BodyLase today to schedule your dermaplaning treatment and start your journey to getting flawless skin.
