Our Medical Director
BodyLase is pleased to be affiliated with plastic surgeon Karl W. Schwarz, MD who is Medical Director for BodyLase Skin Spa. Dr. Schwarz is a highly accomplished plastic surgeon with over 10 years of comprehensive general and plastic surgery training. After graduating from medical school in London, Ontario, Canada, Dr. Schwarz was accepted to a seven-year residency in general surgery at Detroit Receiving Hospital. While in the program, he completed a Masters Degree in Genetics as well as two years of basic research in wound healing. He completed three years of specialty training in Cosmetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgery at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Schwarz has an established plastic surgery practice at the American Institute of Healthcare and Fitness in North Raleigh. Karen Albright is the owner and founder of BodyLase Skin Spa. In 2002, Karen, together with her husband, Daniel J. Albright, MD, opened BodyLase, the first free-standing medical spa in the Triangle. Since its early beginnings, BodyLase has grown from a small medical spa with one laser to a multi-location, award-winning medical spa with several lasers and dozens of aesthetic treatment offerings. Karen lives in Raleigh with her husband Dan and three children.
In 2009, Karen was recognized at the Women in Business Awards luncheon among other exceptional women in the Triangle area.
